The IQ's small footprint for docks and its self-emptying feature are great features. However, if you want to change floor levels on the map or create no-go zones you'll have manually reset it to do this, which can be somewhat of a hassle.
The IQ's app comes with advanced mapping and automation features but it's missing no-go zones, which are available on iRobot models. Its smart-pathing system allows for superior maneuverability and the high-pile mode of its carpet cleaning mode is very effective however it can be caught in rug tassels.
In our tests, we found that the IQ handled pet hair with ease. It was able to remove a large amount of debris on bare floors and a decent amount of medium-pile rug. It was less effective with shag carpets, as it struggled to get at dirt and dust that was embedded in the fibers. It was able to maneuver the legs of a chair, tiny spaces as well as the base of an IKEA wooden step stool. We did notice it was a little slower on floors that were not paved however it soon recovered speed and performed more thoroughly than the other robots we tried.
The IQ is a better choice over the iRobot Roomba 694 for most uses. It has a larger dustbin and a longer battery lifespan, and is better at navigating around obstacles. It also comes with a mopping attachment that can tackle sticky debris.
